Jennifer Casey, Associate Attorney

Jennifer Casey is an Associate Attorney at Kolko & Associates, P.C., where she specializes in the field of U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Law.

Jennifer is licensed to practice law in both Colorado and Massachusetts.  In 2006, Jennifer received her license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  In 2011, Jennifer received her license to practice law in State of Colorado.  Throughout her legal career, Jennifer has exclusively practiced immigration law.

Jennifer grew up in Denver, Colorado.  She attended Denver South High School and the University of Colorado at Boulder.  In 2000, Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies.  After graduating from college, Jennifer worked as a fourth grade teacher in a bi-lingual classroom at John Amesse Elementary School in Denver.  As a teacher, Jennifer worked closely with families who recently immigrated to the United States.  It was her experience with these families that inspired her to attend law school and focus on immigration law.

In 2003, Jennifer moved to San Francisco, California to attend the University of California’s Hastings College of Law.  During law school, Jennifer was a judicial extern at the U.S. Immigration Court in San Francisco, California. Working at the Immigration Court, Jennifer gained first-hand knowledge of how the Court functions and developed important strategies for successfully advocating for her future clients before the U.S. Immigration Courts throughout the country.

It was also during law school that Jennifer had the privilege of interning with the internationally recognized Center for Gender and Refugee Studies (CGRS).  There, Jennifer co-authored an important policy recommendation report, “Getting Away with Murder: Guatemala’s Failure to Protect Women and Rodi Alvarado’s Quest for Safety.” This report, directed at the U.S. Congress, encouraged policy makers to use their considerable influence to put pressure on the Guatemalan government to end the climate of impunity for perpetrators of violent crimes against women in that country.  In 2010, a revised version of the article was published in the book, “Terrorizing Women, Feminicide in the Américas.”

Following her graduation from Hastings College of Law in 2006, Jennifer and her husband relocated to Boston, Massachusetts.  In the greater Boston area, Jennifer worked for several prominent attorneys in the field of immigration law.  From 2006 through 2010, Jennifer’s work resulted in hundreds of successful cases before the U.S. Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO).

In 2010, Jennifer and her husband returned to Denver, Colorado to raise their two children at the base of their beloved Rocky Mountains.

Since 2005, Jennifer has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) which is the primary national organization of over 10,000 immigration professionals devoted to Immigration Law in the United States.  In 2010, Jennifer was selected to serve on the Colorado Chapter of AILA’s liaison committee with the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EIOR).

In her time away from the office, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, hiking, skiing, swimming, and traveling.  Jennifer is also an avid Colorado Rapids soccer fan.
